Instructor: Fabio Chacon
Time: 8:30 am - 11:30 am
Location: Science II - 135
Rating: Advanced

Assuming general knowledge of course development, this workshop delineates a methodology for designing instructional modules as learning objects that can be shared and reused across multiple platforms. Modules are planned using knowledge mapping software tools (MindManager, MatchWare OpenMind, and Vue); then, they are rendered as interactive web pages.

Outline of Session:

  1. Learning Objects: general concepts
  2. Typology of learning objects
  3. Instructor-made learning objects: principles of design
  4. Mapping technique applied to learning objects
  5. Tools for learning object building
  6. Transferring learning object to the course environment (WebCT)
  7. Publishing and sharing learning objects
