Binghamton University is located one mile west of the city of Binghamton and is a short drive from major urban centers in New York and neighboring states. A number of bus companies serve the area.
The University is approximately 45 miles (1 hour) from Ithaca, 70 miles (1 1/2 hours) from Syracuse, 190 miles ( 3 hours) from Philadelphia, and 200 miles (3 hours) from New York City. Other approximate driving times are Albany - 2 1/2 hours; Rochester - 3 hours; and Buffalo - 4 1/2 hours.
GETTING TO CAMPUS BY AIR
The Binghamton Regional Airport provides major airline service to the area. Syracuse's Hancock Airport and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (PA) Airport are approximately 70 miles (1 1/2 hours) from the University.
From the Binghamton Regional Airport, exit the main drive onto Airport Road. Go 8 miles South to Route 17 West. Travel West on Route 17 to Exit 70 South (Route 201). Follow Route 201 and the SUNY signs to the traffic circle. Take the first right off the circle, cross the bridge to Route 434 East. The main entrance to the campus is the first right.

Tappan Zee Bridge: Thruway 87 North, then take the Harriman exit to Route 17 West. Take Route 17 West to Exit 70 South (Route 201). Follow Route 201 and the SUNY signs to the traffic circle. Take the first right off the circle, cross bridge to Route 434 East. The main entrance to the campus is the first right.
George Washington Bridge: I-80 West to Route 380 North. Proceed on Route 380 North to I-81 North to Route 17 West. Take Route 17 West to Exit 70 South (Route 201). Follow Route 201 and the SUNY signs to the traffic circle. Take the first right off the circle, cross bridge to Route 434 East. The main entrance to the campus is the first right.
From New Jersey
New Jersey Turnpike North to Route 280 West, then take I-80 West to Route 380 North. Proceed to I-81 North to Route 17 West. Take RoMay 9, 2005 and the SUNY signs to the traffic circle. Take the first right off the circle, cross bridge to Route 434 East. The main entrance to the campus is the first right.
From Southern New England and Downstate New York
NYS Thruway (87) to Exit 16 to Route 17 West. Continue on Route 17 West to Exit 70 South (Route 201). Follow Route 201 and the SUNY signs to the traffic circle. Take the first right off the circle, cross bridge to Route 434 East. The main entrance to the campus is the first right.
